Urmston Sea Anglers Association (USAA) is based on the belief that sea fishing is for everyone & anyone to enjoy.  We aim to make sea fishing as affordable as it is enjoyable by providing a wide & varied programme of UK Charter Boat Sea Fishing activities throughout each year.  

USAA was formed in 1976 by a group of like minded individuals from all over the North West of England.  They were all keen sea anglers from all walks of life who were looking to operate collectively to assist in the booking of charter boats, B+B accommodation and occasionally coach and ferry travel when travelling to distant parts of the UK.  USAA held its first meeting at the Bird In'th Hand pub on Flixton Road, Urmston and continued to do so for over 20 years during which time its membership expanded to over 140 anglers.  Refurbishment of the Bird inth Hand forced the club to relocate to Flixton Cricket Club in the late 1990s.  After more than 5 years at the cricket club USAA had outgrown the facilities available and so a second relocation took the club to its current base at the Roebuck Hotel on Church Road, Urmston.  The original USAA committee members were elected Founder Members & Honorary Life Members by the club in recognition of the hard work put into setting up the club & administering its inaugural activities.  Sadly all FM / HL members are now swapping tall stories & fishing in the sky.   

USAA membership consists of residents from the local Trafford area as well as from throughout the North West & even as far away as Wales, Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Ireland, Gloucestershire & Thailand.  There are no age restraints i.e. the club does not operate on a Juniors, Seniors or Veterans basis.  However younger and older members (say 10 years & younger and 80 years old & over) are subject to prior notification / confirmation / approval by the club’s insurers before they are permitted to take part. Younger members under 16 of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult.  

The club is an affiliated member of The Angling Trust (membership No 62463) formerly the National Federation of Sea Anglers (NFSA) & has been since its inauguration.  As such the club is governed by the rules and regulations of the Angling Trust.  The most important of these being the requirement to carry £10million Third Party Liability Insurance for all fishing activities worldwide (excluding North America & Canada). After a couple of years of negotiating on unfavourable policy details The Angling Trust has recently been selected to replace the clubs longstanding insurers Perkins Slade.  The policies are virtually identical but Perkins Slade's annual fee had become excessive.  A copy of the current 2020 insurance policy summary can be viewed under the Club Life 'drop down list' on the Homepage. 

There are no fees other than the annual subscription fee which is currently £30.  Our regular meetings are held at 8.00pm at The Roebuck Hotel on Church Road, Urmston on alternate Monday evenings (see the Meeting Dates page for detailed information of the current years meeting dates). All members are considered equal irrespective or age, sex, ability or experience & apart from the competition rules of The Angling Trust USAA's rules are kept simple and straightforward as possible.  A copy of the club's rules is available on request.
